Description
Sealapex (KERR Hawe) Sealapex is a calcium hydrous material for sealing canals. The study shows that the material stimulates the growth of hard tissues at the apex of the endodontically treated tooth, as well as the growth of hard tissues in the perforation zone. Approximate Composition After Mixing: Calcium Oxide 20.0% Barium Sulfate 20.4% Zinc Oxide 6.5% Sub-Micron Silicone Glass 3.0% Titanium Dioxide 2.2% Zinc Steroid 1.0% CHARACTERISTICS When used with gutta-percha or with silver pins, this material exhibits the following properties: Low expansion during hardening Low solubility in living tissue fluids More than easy kneading ability Long working hours on the kneading sheet Good fluidity and easy "sticking" in the canals Easy introduction into the canal with a canal filler or gutta-percha the pin does not stain the tooth structure Kneading Equal portions (by length and weight) of the base paste and the catalyst should be mixed together for 15-20 seconds, or until the mass is mixed to a uniform state. Carry out kneading movements in one direction. The time of solidification of the material on the kneading sheets will be minimal within 2 hours at a temperature of 22.8 °C and 50% humidity. Curing time may be longer in a cooler, drier room. In the canal of the tooth, the material hardens in about 40 minutes at a temperature of 37oC and 100% humidity at a thickness of 0.5 mm and will harden proportionally faster in thinner layers. INLET OF THE MATERIAL INTO THE CHANNEL The walls of the channel must be dry. Silapex should be inserted into the canal either with a canal filler or with an endodontic instrument slightly smaller than the last instrument used to widen the canal. Endodontic pins (gutta-percha or silver) can be embedded in mixed cement and gently placed in the required position using tweezers. Additional pins are placed in their usual technique during lateral condensation. This material is combined with the etching technique and any etching material, composite or amalgam. Store at a temperature of 18o-24o C
