The tool is made of corrosion-resistant medical steel, has a one-piece construction, consists of the following elements:
- curved and at the end pointed working part;
- holder-handle (diameter 6 mm) with special anti-slip notches.
Diagnosis is carried out with a probe and a dental mirror. The probe provides ideal tactile sensitivity, and the mirror allows a thorough visual inspection of the detected problem area. Application of the diagnostic probe is as follows:
- detection of enamel softening, hidden carious processes; >
- clarifying the location of the mouth of the dental canal, determining its length, sensitivity;
- examination of fissures;
- examination of gums, periodontal pockets;
- detection of dental deposits.
Hand tools must be sterilized after each use. The following methods are used for this:
- dry heat;
- immersion in baths with disinfectants;
- autoclaving;
- ultrasonic cleaning.
