Properties

Gelatamp is a hemostatic gelatin sponge impregnated with 5% colloidal silver. It is intended for tamponade of the hole after surgical intervention and can be cut to the size of the wound surface. Thanks to its uniformly porous structure, the sponge can absorb several times more blood than it weighs, promotes the aggregation of platelets due to its large surface area, and fills the wound cavity. A stable blood clot is formed and reliably tampons the wound.

This prevents the occurrence of fissures and secondary holes, which without the use of Gelatamp could occur in the process of organizing the clot, reduces the risk of cross-infection of the hole with saliva microorganisms. The process of organizing the hole is not disturbed. At the same time, there is no danger of excessive proliferation during major surgical interventions.

Gelatampostaetsya in the wound and is completely absorbed within 4 weeks. The presence of colloidal silver provides an antimicrobial effect without the effect of resistance of pathogenic microflora. Unlike other antimicrobial additives, colloidal silver does not wash out of the sponge, which ensures a long-lasting effect.

Application method

After removing the foil, Gelatamp is sterilized and ready for use. The size of a small sponge can be adjusted to the size of the wound without squeezing the sponge. In the case of a large wound, two Gelatamp sponges can be used.

Immediately after the surgical intervention, dry the surface and insert the sponge without compression into the fresh, blood-filled wound cavity, where it is completely soaked with blood (visual control). The sponge should not protrude above the inner gingival margin so as not to worsen epithelization. After that, the hole can be completely protected and will not be washed again.

Sterility

The Gelatamp sponge is sterilized by gamma rays. Sterility of undamaged, unopened packaging is guaranteed until the first use. It is prohibited to use the material if the integrity of the packaging has been violated. Taking into account the antibacterial effect of the product, its safety is guaranteed until the moment of use or the expiration date after opening the package, provided that Gelatamp was removed in aseptic conditions.

Contraindications

Infected wounds with purulent discharge, increased sensitivity to silver or gelatin.
