Application and properties of EUGENOL

Eugenol is generally used as a liquid for mixing pastes that serve to seal root canals (Endomethasone, Caryosan), as well as for materials used for temporary filling of defects and for pastes for intermediate coating of dental pulp (Caryosan, zinc oxide). Eugenol can also be used to disinfect root canals during the treatment of gangrene of the pulp, as well as when impregnating dentin with silver nitrate.
Eugenol is the main component of clove oil (oleum Caryophylli), has a strong bactericidal and analgesic effect. Difficult to dissolve in water.
