The peculiarity of these probes is their unique flexibility, which allows you to process the root canal qualitatively and prepare it for filling without risk of damage. The super plasticity of the file allows to work effectively and safely in strongly curved and calcified canals. It is a universal endo-instrument that is used both in standard clinical cases and in complex ones. The high-strength nickel-titanium alloy, which shows high resistance to wear, corrosion, the effects of aggressive environments and high temperatures, served as the material for the pro tapers.

Indications for the use of pro tapers:

- removal of necrotic pulp, calcifications and dentine chips from the root canal;

- providing the root canal with the desired conical shape;

- alignment and expansion of the walls of the root canal along the entire length (from the mouth to the apical opening).

Features and advantages of using ProTaper GOLD SX/F3 tools:

- unique flexibility of the endo-instrument due to the multiple taper of the working part;

- increased strength and safety when working with the tool due to its triangular shape, which reduces the contact area with the walls of the tooth canal;

There are two types of ProTaper GOLD drills:

1. Shapers for forming the channel walls:

- Sx – used for forming the conical shape of the walls of short root canals, as well as for forming the crown part of long canals. The diameter of the base of the protaper is 1.2 mm, and the end is 0.19 mm (increased taper of the tool);

- S1 - used during the preparation procedure of the upper third of the root canals, the taper of the tool gradually increases (02-011), the tip of the tool has a diameter of 0.17 mm;

- S2 – used for processing the middle third of root canals, the taper increases from 0.04 to 0.115, the tip of the tool has a diameter of 0.20 mm.

2. Finishers that finally smooth and level the apical third and canal walls:

- F1 – protaper tip diameter 0.20 mm, taper 07;

- F2 – the tip has a diameter of 0.25 mm, taper 08;

- F3 – tip diameter is 0.30 mm, taper 09.

Recommendations for the disinfection of ProTaper GOLD reusable machine tools.

Disinfection takes place in several stages.

Pre-sterilization cleaning:

- soaking in disinfectant solutions that do not contain phenol;

- thorough washing under jets of cold water in order to remove biological residues stuck to the working part.

Sterilization treatment with hot steam in an autoclave (pressure within 0.22 MPa, temperature not higher than 135 ° C).
