ZINC OXIDE is recommended for the preparation of pastes, mainly in combination with eugenol. It is used as a means for temporary sealing, for leveling gaps, for temporary or permanent cementation and as a filler in the canal or surgical cement.
Application method:
For a temporary seal, the mixture should be prepared in such a way that the paste does not stick to either the glass vessel or the spatula.
For use in deep crevices, the first portion of the paste should have a cream consistency, the next layer should be of a solid consistency.
For cementation and sealing of root canals, the resulting mixture should have the consistency of cream.
As a surgical cement, the resulting paste should be of such a consistency that it allows for manual manipulation.
