Composition: Resorcinol
Properties
Resorcinol - white with a yellowish or grayish tint, crystalline powder with a weak characteristic smell; easily soluble in water and alcohol. Under the influence of air and light, it gradually turns pink. A derivative of phenol, it is inferior to the latter in terms of antimicrobial activity, but is less toxic and less irritating to tissues. In small concentrations it has a keratoplastic effect, in large concentrations it has a keratolytic and caustic effect.
Application
In dental practice, resorcinol is used to treat and seal canals with complicated caries, to treat periodontal disease, and cauterize keratinized areas of the mucous membrane. The drug is used in the form of 5-50% pastes and liquids. With periodontitis, resorcinol crystals are introduced into pathological gum pockets; solutions of resorcinol with formalin are used for disinfection and mummification of the pulp.
Storage conditions
Resorcinol in packaged form should be stored in a dry place at a temperature from + 5 ° C to + 25 ° C. The warranty period of validity is 2 years.
