Interlig is a woven fiberglass structure impregnated with a photopolymer composite.

Fiberglass is widely used in areas where lightness and high strength are required. The extremely limited use of this material in the dental field began in the sixties of the last century.

Later, as a consequence of progress in silanization technologies and adhesives, the use of fiberglass structures produced a real revolution in the field of prosthetics and dental treatment.

The aesthetic appearance and high mechanical strength of Interlig allow the production of conservative restorations that will have a large margin of durability at a more than affordable cost.

Interlig composition

• Fiberglass – 60% of the total mass.
• Composite impregnating resin – 40% of the total mass. (Bis-HMA, diurethane, silica, barium-based glass ceramics, catalytic components).

Characteristics

• Interlig material has a braided arrangement of internal fibers and a transparent structure. The thickness is two tenths of a millimeter, the width is two millimeters, and the length is eight and a half centimeters.
• Indications for use
• Different types of retainers: periodontal, periodontal, as well as for extracted and lost teeth.
• Strengthening of temporary restorations, direct restorations and indirect prostheses installed on both artificial and natural teeth.
• Restoration of dentures made of acrylic resins, as well as their additional strengthening.
• Manufacturing of retaining structures in the field of pediatric dentistry.
• Precautionary measures
• Components of fiberglass material can cause allergic reactions, especially if the patient is hypersensitive to them. Avoid direct contact of the material with the skin until it cures. When working, use special gloves, as well as safety glasses and a mask. In case of contact with material, immediately wash the area in contact with plenty of water. If skin irritation does not decrease, contact a specialized specialist.
• Store in a cool, dry (no more than 28 degrees Celsius) place, protected from light. Do not store near materials that contain eugenol. Do not store the tape outside of its packaging.
• Instructions for use Interlig
• Mark the location of the tooth separation after its extraction.
• Due to the contraction of the gums after removal, cutting should be done 1-2 millimeters lower. After the procedure, the tooth should have a convex shape with a smooth surface.
• Open the tooth from the root side and remove the pulp, then fill the cavity with composite material. The surfaces are pre-etched and coated with an adhesive composition.
• Isolate the area and create a groove 0.8 mm deep and two millimeters wide on the extracted tooth and abutment teeth.
• Place the tooth in the vestibular part with a small amount of composite material and light-polymerize it.
• Etch with phosphoric acid for thirty seconds and dry the surface, avoiding drying out the dentin.
• Apply the adhesive complex and light-cure each retainer segment separately for twenty seconds.
• Apply the composite restoration material until it fills half of the selected slot.
• Cut the Interlig fiber so that it is slightly smaller than the groove, making insertion easier.
• Place the fiber inside the groove and press it against the composite material, then light-cure all segments for forty seconds each, pressing the fiber against them. The remaining segments should be covered with foil to prevent their premature polymerization.
• Fill the remainder of the groove with polymer material and photopolymerize it according to the instructions.
• Remove excess materials and perform final surface treatment.
