Kavitan Plus is a radiopaque glass ionomer cement.

Description:

• Kavitan Plus (Kavitan Plus) is a radiopaque, glass ionomer cement of chemical hardening for linings and fillings with chemical adhesion to hard tissues of teeth and the ability to release fluoride ions. The material is produced in five main shades and has good aesthetic properties, high strength and low solubility of cement after its hardening.

Indication:

• fillings in permanent teeth from V and III classes;
• fillings from V, III and I classes in permanent teeth - the so-called sandwich method;
• fillings from I, II, III and V classes in temporary teeth;
• adhesive pads for composite and amalgam fillings;
• restoration of lost dentin before tooth preparation for an artificial crown, inlay or onlay inserts, aesthetic veneers;
• temporary fillings in permanent teeth.

Contraindication:

• The material is not used for class IV fillings that are subjected to high mechanical loads, for class II fillings with classical cavity preparation in permanent teeth, cavities that include tooth occlusion irregularities. The use of the material is contraindicated in case of established hypersensitivity to any of the constituent components of the drug.

Preparation:

1. Mixing ratio: 2.7 g of powder and 1 g of liquid (1 measure of powder and 1 drop of liquid). Optimum temperature for cement preparation: 20-25 °С.
2. Before use, the powder must first be thoroughly shaken. It is recommended not to compact the powder in the measure. Excess powder in a measuring cup filled to the crown is removed along the edge of the bottle neck.
3. One portion of the liquid is measured directly from the plastic bottle by moderately compressing the walls in a vertical position.
4. After using the powder and liquid, it is necessary to close the cans.
5. A plastic or stainless spatula is used for mixing on a disposable, smooth paper pad or glass plate. A cooled glass mixing plate helps to increase the processing time of the cement. The powder can be added to the liquid immediately or in 2-4 doses.

Kneading should be carried out in the shortest possible time (maximum 30-45 seconds). Properly prepared cement is plastic.

Principles of clinical application:

1. Carefully prepare the dentin in a standard way with the creation of macroretention (in case of erosive damage to the dental tissues, do not prepare, only mechanically clean the surface of the dentin).
2. When used in deep cavities (less than 0.5 mm to the pulp), it is necessary to cover the pulp with a protective agent - calcium hydroxide.
3. Improvement of adhesion can be achieved by using a conditioner, for example, KAVITAN CONDITIONER .
4. The cement can be cured with good results under the matrix.
5. Seals after their hardening are recommended to be treated with a protective varnish .
6. Excess hardened material is removed with appropriate tools (for example, a scaler, excavator, etc.).
7. Mechanical processing or etching within the framework of the sandwich method can be carried out no earlier than after 15 minutes.
