Twinky Star is a multi-colored radiopaque compomer filling material with a sparkle effect for cavities in temporary teeth. It provides simple and quick sealing, and also combines the fluoride release characteristic of glass ionomer cements with the physical stability of composites.
Twinky Star is polymerized with halogen (blue) light and used in combination with dentin-enamel bond (e.g., Futurabond ).

- Filling of temporary teeth.
Processing:
Preparation/choice of color:
Clean the teeth to be filled with a paste that does not contain fluoride (eg, Clint ). The available color scale allows you to choose one of 7 colors. Pay attention to reliable isolation of the working field.
Preparation of the cavity:
The preparation must be carried out in accordance with the principles of the adhesive technique using a minimally invasive method that ensures a gentle effect on healthy tooth tissues. It is necessary to observe special principles of preparation of cavities of temporary teeth!
Cleaning:
- Remove all residues from the tooth cavity with a stream of water
- Avoid contact with blood or saliva
- Remove excess moisture with a weak stream of air. Do not overdry the dentine! The dentine surface should be moist, but not wet.
Pulp protection:
In places of the cavity bordering the pulp of the tooth, you should apply a calcium hydroxide-based gasket ( Calcicur, Calcimol ).
Adhesive system:
To obtain optimal adhesion, use a conventional dentin-enamel bond taking into account the manufacturer's recommendations (eg, Futurabond , self-etching dentin-enamel bond).
Twinky Star App:
If the thickness of the seal is more than 2 mm, apply and polymerize the material layer by layer. Polymerize each layer for about 40 seconds with a halogen lamp ( Polofil Lux ).
Use transparent matrices, caps, light-conducting wedges. Pay attention to the tight edge fit. Place the working part of the lamp as close as possible to the surface of the seal. If the distance is more than 5 mm, then a decrease in the depth of hardening, i.e. a violation of polymerization, should be taken into account. Incomplete polymerization can cause discoloration of the filling and irritation of the pulp.
Processing and polishing of the filling can be carried out directly after removing the matrices and caps (eg, with diamond veneers, grinding discs). At the end, the seal/enamel border, and preferably the entire tooth, should be completely covered with the fluorine-containing preparation Bifluoride 10 .
Instructions/Precautions:
Twinky Star contains BIS-GMA, diurethane dimethyl acrylate, TEGDMA, BHT.
- If it is impossible to reliably isolate or use the above-mentioned sealing technique, as well as if an allergy to individual components is detected, you should refuse to use Twinky Star .
Twinky Star is contraindicated for direct or indirect pulp coating, as well as occlusally loaded permanent fillings in permanent teeth.
- Preparations containing eugenol or clove oil,
disrupt the polymerization of composite fillings. Therefore, the use of zinc oxide eugenol cements or other eugenol-containing preparations in combination with composites should be excluded.
- Twinky Star is a compomer-based filling material with a special color effect. This sparkling color effect is not achieved by the inclusion of metals, but by the addition of glitter (an insoluble mineral).
All dyes meet standards for food and cosmetics and are non-toxic. After polymerization, they are reliably fixed in the composite. Their insignificant content and insolubility guarantee the safe use of Twinky Star.
Storage:
Store tightly closed (15 - 25° C).
